I've been a full-time broker at Home Town Real Estate since 2020, working residential, land, and commercial listings across Cañon City, Florence, and Penrose. You can read the rest of that story on the home page. This page is about what fills the time outside of it.

Real estate wasn't my first language, design was. I still paint and draw regularly, and my wife, Zoey, and I do ceramics together, something that started as her studio practice and turned into a shared habit. We love getting our daughters drawing and creating at home too. It keeps the same eye sharp that I bring to staging a listing or laying out a marketing packet.

I love biking around Fremont County, and I'm proud to say I've completed a Ride the Rockies tour, a real Colorado rite of passage. On the rare days the weather isn't cooperating, or the schedule's too packed, I'm on the Peloton instead. Either way, it's the closest thing I have to a daily reset, and cycling's been a lifelong love of mine.

I garden, and I spend more time than I'd like to admit tinkering with our ditch irrigation system, the kind of very Colorado problem that comes with owning irrigated land out here. It's a good reminder of how much water actually matters to a property, something that comes up more often than you'd think in this business.

I like doing projects around the house, probably more than most people would consider reasonable. I even had a short stint flipping a house early on, which taught me more about construction, budgets, and how a property actually comes together than almost anything else I've done in this business.

When I'm not outside or in the shop, I'm probably at my desk. I built my own PC, and I'm into gaming, a habit from long before real estate that I've never quite grown out of. It's a nerdy pastime, but it keeps me entertained and keeps me in touch with childhood friends who don't live in Cañon City anymore. That same interest in computers also keeps me sharp on the software I actually use in the business, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator among them.

My parents were both successful small business owners in Cañon City. My mom and step-dad ran Sonny's Ace Hardware, and my dad ran the Cañon City Shopper, a local classified ad paper. I spent a lot of time around that newspaper and advertising work growing up, laying out ads and thinking about how a page reads and what catches an eye. Long before art school, that was my first real design education.
